Hi Stephanie,
I hope you’re well. I am an assistant producer on a BBC radio show called The Conversation, which celebrates women who have made an impact on the World. The format is that we bring together two women from different countries to talk about a subject that connects them – normally a profession, or life experience. I’m theming a programme on endurance athletes and was wondering if I could set up a research telephone call with you for this week? If so please reply to philippa.tilbury01@bbc.co.uk I'm talking to a variety of endurance athletes and looking to cast two guests for the programme. We have a global audience and so we always aim to have a good geographical and cultural range of experiences on The Conversation. I’ll be looking to record this towards the end of April.
A bit of info on the show. The central aim of The Conversation is for both guests to be curious about each other and ask each other direct questions about their experiences, under the guidance of our host Kim Chakanetsa. The audience for our international radio network totals over 50 million listeners through various platforms and they are on every continent, and - we're told - looking for inspiration. So we hear about guests’ motivations, how they've got to where they are, an outline of what they actually do day to day and how they've overcome any challenges. The programme is pre-recorded, not live and the tone is relaxed and natural. The Conversation launched a year ago and since then we have spoken to a wide range of guests, including: Pakistan's first female judge and the first black woman to sit on South Africa's supreme court; Circus performers; the UAE's first female surgeon with a face transplant surgeon; funeral directors and taxi drivers. So you see we cover a broad range of topics, but what unites them all is they're women who have been successful in their chosen field and made an impact with their work. Here's a link to our website to give you a better idea: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0290t8h/episodes/player Since our launch last year we have won two prestigious Clarion awards (which honour women in the media) and we've had lots of lovely reviews in the UK and international press, including this for our first programme: I look forward to hearing from you.
